Living Leaves/ Hojas de Vida
‘Living Leaves’ embodies a selection of 30-40 portraits of leaves created during a 5-month period in the high desert of central Brazil during the 2021-2022 pandemic.
The process and ensuing results were fascinating especially by printing a leaf the size of my hand to large formaat where the become monumental entities.
Every fallen leaf becomes a conversation piece. Extracting the maximum from the minimum through the imagination was a unique exploration.
I then envisaged the publication of a large format book wherein the uniqueness, diversity and significance of leaves could be observed and felt.
Together with Dutch graphic designer, Esther Noyons and Kenyan performer/writer Ogutu Muraya, we succeeded in publishing a unique art book ( edition 350) presented during my retrospective in the Cobra Museum in May 2024.
